Re: Rendering glitch

Thanks for the feedback, but there are no effects on this clip whatsoever.  There is one single 2 minute clip and an audio track.  It should be about the simplest render possible.

Sahil,

I don't see "Only Sync on WiFi". I use an iPad Pro and it doesn't use cell data. Am I missing it?

Using PS Mix version 2.8.1.

I emptied the Deleted folder and relaunched the PS Mix app. The sync icon spins, as usual, but still ends up with the warning triangle that the images did not sync.

Next?

Thanks,

Hello B. A.,

Please provide the asset ID of the images that you are reporting. We can confirm the issue and report it to responsible team.

If this is time-sensitive, render to ProRes, then from ProRes to H.264, or disable CUDA/OpenCL rendering. H.264 can be temperamental at times.

If you have more time, here are a few other things to try:

- Update Premiere

- Update your GPU drivers

- Clear Premiere media cache

- Copy paste assets to a new sequence

- Copy paste sequence to a new project

- Restart system

Download and try MPC-HC, which is one of the best video players I've found. It uses the display profile in the rendering path, which should match what you see inside LR and any other color managed application. VLC does NOT use the display profile so it should appear different and hopefully better using MPC-HC.

How do I create a slow, gentle fade in of text in Premiere?

$

Hi everyone,

I'm teaching myself Premiere, and I'm trying to create a *slow, *gentle, *gradual fade in of text.

I have tried ––both; manually with key-framing the opacity of the clip, and I've tried a cross dissolve.

The issue is that regardless of how long the duration of the cross dissolve effect, or the distance I put between keyframes when I do it manually –– the text immediately becomes visible from the start. And I want the text to become *gradually visible.

The bizarre part, is that when the clip *fades out, it is exactly how I am trying to create the fade in; slow and gentle.

So, when I do it manually with keyframes; at the start the clip, I set the opacity to 0.

In the middle of the clip, the opacity to 100.

The end of the clip, the opacity back to 0.

Thus, the settings are exactly the same from the beginning of the clip to the middle,

as they are from the middle of the clip, to the end.

0 to 100 and back to 0.

So, why is the fade out nice and gentle, and yet, the fade in of the text is immediately visible and jarring?

Logically, if the text can fade out from 100 to 0 opacity in a gentle, gradual manner,

surely the text must be able to fade in from 0 to 100, also in a slow, gentle, gradual way.

But, the text becomes immediately visible, despite lengthening the duration of a cross dissolve, or increasing the distance between keyframes when done manually.

I need the fade in to gradually reveal the text, but, the moment the clip starts to play, the text becomes visible immediately, and in a jarring way.
With the fade out, the text becomes gradually invisible. It's smooth and gentle.
How to create this for the fade in?!

Thanks!

Applescript Photoshop Automate Batch

I am trying to make an applescript that will launch Photoshop and call the Automate Batch function.  I have zero experience doing this and have only gotten snippets of code from my searching.  I was wondering if someone could help me on this.. in particular if it is at all possible to pass a source folder to the batch call and then how to make the Batch call.  Here is what I have so far, which I am pretty sure doesn't work:

set sourceFolder to "/Users/Joe/Desktop/Temp"    do shell script "echo Source Path is: " & sourceFolder    tell application "com.adobe.Photoshop"        activate        try            set Batch_Options to {class:batch options, source folder:sourceFolder, destination:save and close, error file:Error_File, file naming:{document name lower, extension lower}, macintosh compatible:true, override open:false, override save:true, suppress open:true, suppressprofile:true, unix compatible:true, windows compatible:true}            batch with options Batch_Options        end try        return "Done"    end tell

Any help is appreciated.

The built-in transitions can be abrupt depending on what you're fading from/to. I like to create my own fade in/out presets with easing, here's how:

1. Set your Keyframes (0, 100)

2. Right click and change from "Linear" to "Bezier"

3. Drag the bezier handles till you achieve the level/speed of smoothness you want.

4. When you're done, right click on the "Opacity" effect and select "Save Preset"

5. Now you have that transition saved for whenever you want to use it.

How do I not save sketch projects?

i resumed drawing a subject and drew on the main layer when I wanted to draw on a new layer. I exceeded the number of history states available and would like or revert the project to where it was when I reopened it. Is there any way to do this?  Using ipad pro. Also,  is there any way to increase the number of history states from the default of 50?

Hi Steve. Thanks for replay.

Unfortunately it did not help. Do you have another idea?

Thanks.

Thanks for replying!!

Doesn't work. At least not any better than what we had.

How do i get you files? I'd love to troubleshoot this without that bother though.

Essentially, I have code that is unwrapped (not in a function) and should simply execute when this thing is added (set up listeners, init stuff, blah blah). And it doesn't execute on launch.

If I put it in an 'init()' function and call it (mp.init()), it works. But I'd rather it just execute automatically.

I can see that your 'white line' layer is a child of (parented to) Null 1.

Is Null 1 is non-uniformly scaled by any chance? That will distort your pasted path. A Parent object passes Position, Scale and Rotation values to its children. See if it works with that null at 100% scale on both x and y axis.

Thanks for your assistance, Justin, I appreciate it.

I did try that bezier option, but I will try it again and save that preset as you suggested.

Is this the way super slow fade in's of text are done for films? That is the effect I am trying to create.

No, it doesn't disappear after clicking another image.  It probably is a bug but some bugs become useful

Try this: Draw a radial filter around the window, then exclude the interior parts by adding a range mask based on luminosity.

Shoot only raw.!

Define a 'Default' camera profile that "develops" your raw images as they are imported.(A profile that makes the raw files look like you would expect a JPG to look 'out-of-camera'.)

Export selected images to JPG when needed.

You will have eliminated several steps in workflow making it very "lazy".

I would second Roei's suggestions. It's difficult to see the quality of your video and the amount of motion blur etc, but you might find that tracking a smaller area that is more stable - say the forehead, perhaps including the eyebrows and the edge of the hairline - might give you a better result. Less may be more.

It did not die, it was brutally murdered.

I find it hard to believe that Adobe is not infringing the rights of those that bought the software recently by removing the possibility to download and install essential updates that we are entitled to...

Rodney, get a life dude. Geez.

Look at the depth of my posts here, and the totally free articles on my blog, and that the stuff I do for MixingLight that I've linked to is outside the paywall. Also free.

The arguments over what is "grading" or "correction" among colorists are by people a bit above what you or I have done. And ongoing. Passionate.

I'm at an event for the weekend, rather than siat a computer so my posts aren't as in-depth as normal. And mine tend to be rather in depth comparatively anyway.
