Re: .srt import and editing not working in Premiere CC 2019

More observations from working with captions in Premiere.

 

If you import a .srt file, then change your import settings, then delete the .srt file and re-import it, Premiere will apply the settings that were in effect when you originally imported the .srt. It doesn't seem to matter how many times you delete and import, Premiere stores the original settings someplace, ignores your current settings and applies the original settings instead.

 

I found that I had to change the .srt filename - EG adding a "2" to the filename - before Premiere would finally "forget" the original import settings and apply my current import settings. This behavior is the reason I thought changing my import settings had no effect at all on importing .srt files - because it doesn't if you try re-importing a file that Premiere has already imported. 

 

I also just experienced the "no-changes-take-effect" issue - wherein changes I make in the "Captions" window - EG font size, background opacity, etc. - aren't reflected on the timeline until after I quit Premiere and restart.

 

So if you're pulling your hair out with frustration, please know that you it isn't you, it is in fact the application. Maybe some of these tips and workarounds will help alleviate your frustration.

Would you please try once to update the application to the latest version available?

If you have already updated the application, please confirm the Acrobat Reader version number on both the devices and check if the issue still persists.

AEM 6.5 throws com.adobe.cq.sightly.WCMUsePojo Failed to activate Use class

In a fresh AWS Centos instance installing a 6.3 code base into AEM 6.5.

 

We're trying to install it as a fresh install and after installing all the packages into 6.5 and this is what we see in the logs.

 

Any ideas what the cause is?  It didn't seem to happen on a local instance.

Unfortunately my illustrator program does not include the 'European General Purpose 3' setting.. the hues were adjusted anyway, so do you think this is a problem?

Djhbaham,

Basic 3D. Just adjust to taste. It helps to have a 4K frame in a 1080 sequence or an 8K frame in a 4K sequence, depending on what you need, that is, if you have a choice when creating these graphics.

 

For the blur, just triplicate the footage. For the V2 and V3 clips, place a blur effect on the blur, mask and feather to give it the shallow depth of field look.

newb: Pitch shifting up "doubles"clip

Hey all, apologies for the dumb question, but I've run out of steam on this one.

 

Here's what I'm doing.  I have a lot of little sound effects for a game, and some of them need to go another octave up, so I'm pitch shifting them and they sound great playing back.

On export (Multitrack Mixdown -> Selected Clips), however, this happens.

An extra little stutter sneaks in.  I assume this can be traced back to some law of the universe that says raising the pitch requires human sacrifice, but I can not for the life of me resolve it.  Even bringing it back in and trying to cut it out, this stutter persists.

 

I'm sure I'm just a dummy--could I beseech you kind audiophiles to help an old soul get past this trouble?

Zoom in and apply the basic 3D effect and adjust.  Create a mask and apply a blur effect.

A bazillion thanks, Barb! The screenshot is very helpful. But if I place text into the chapter-start page, would I need to manually thread it to the following pages? I've been inserting threads into my master pages. Maybe that's not a good idea? Should I be threading the actual pages instead?

 

Also, is there a way of splitting the spread in a master page? I did that accidentally the other day, and would like to know how to do it again if I need to.

If it's a big sculpture, then use a big softbox or PLM to get even seamless values.  Usually, 3 softboxes will do the trick to keep the background even and light the sculpture but again it depends on the size of the sculpture.   One from each side and one larger one flying overhead.   If the sculpture is complex you can light paint it and then flash the seamless.  

 

If you mean in PS then there's plenty of tools to fix things.  Outline the subject (try Select/ Subject) then invert that selection and paint with a sampled color of the seamless in either darken or lighten mode using a very large soft brush at a low opacity.  That's a quick way to clean things up after the fact.

So let's see if we can help get you sorted.

The last "Select Catalog" dialog is important! It tells me this-

 

{Lightroom Current-2.LRCAT} appears to be you current working catalog.

You must have had it open with Lightroom-Classic when you did the screen-clip as we see a .LOCK file that only exists when a catalog is 'open'.

 

{Lightroom Catalog.LRCAT} is an 'old' catalog that was most likely upgraded by Lr-CLassic to {Lightroom Current-2.LRCAT}. Upgrades add the -2 suffix to the file name.

 

{Lightroom 5 Catalog.LRCAT} is possibly a VERY VERY old catalog (from using Lr v5?)

 

It is possible that your two versions of Lightroom (Lr-2015 and Lr-Classic) were opening the two different catalogs which is why you see data in one catalog that is not in another, when you open either of the two Lr versions.

 

Where you go from here - you have choices- (Suggestions only! You will need detailed instructions for these!)

 

1) Merge the two catalogs by a process "Import from another catalog"

PRO: This will preserve any Development you have done on images in both Catalogs.

CON: Maybe create confusion with extra Virtual copies and Previews showing in the Library.

 

OR

 

2) Do a 'Folder Synchronization' within your current catalog {Lightroom Current-2.LRCAT} that will 'Add by Import' and show every file that is in your Hard-drive folder hierarchy.

PRO: The simplest answer to have EVERY photo file shown in the one working Lr-Classic Catalog.

CON: Files that Import by this method will not show any Development done in Lightroom, unless you follow a procedure to 'Save Metadata to files' beforehand.

 

Choice 2) would by my preference- after doing a 'Save Metadata" to files. Others may disagree.

 

And another comment- Your Catalog Backups MUST be going to another physical Hard-drive! NOT the same drive as the working catalog.

Object not following copied path

So I've been working on my line path with 2 square objects at the head of path (moving in front of it). I received helped in copying the path of the line, then pasting it to the position of the object (the square) so it travels with the line (then adjusting the key frame so it travels at the same speed). But I'm really having troubles/inconsitency with getting the object to follow the same path. Notice in my template the copied path for the object is LONGER than the original line path. I've tried adjusting keyframes and tinkering with a lot, but I can't seem to get this object to just follow along with the path. It's almost as if it's copying a different path all together.

I guess I could do that. That's what Barb has suggested. I was trying to create a master page that included both the special layout for a chapter first page and for subsequent pages. Maybe that's not feasible.

Again,  Ann is right. Just load either clip in the Source monitor or select it on a timeline.

 

In the Effects Control Panel, at the top, select the Master Clip tab. Then apply Lumetri corrections on the Master Clip effect.

 

All changes made via Master Clip settings apply instantly to all instances of that clip anywhere in the project.

If you are talking about the Crop Tool, enter your values in cm and your resolution as PPI

 

Then from the drop-down menu, choose New Crop Preset. If the already selected name is good, click OK and it will show up in the drop down menu preserving the ppi settings.

not at my end, Mixamo is downloading my Fuse test character in T pose with textures in tact

the error is most likly happening at the import to Unreal engine step because there you can change almost anything about the model like what textures or the way the bones go together and by default the last settings are saved so its easy to mess something up

I tried two links in this thread to get to that script file, but the file has been removed -- the first click takes me to a nearly identical page, and clicking (again) on a Download button, I get an error:

Can anyone please send me the script? I don't need to do this often but like many of you I have an enormous archive of FH files. Too many and too widely archived to collect to have Tensai do it -- plus, the only time I asked them for help, the FH file was too old for even them to tackle. (And I still have AI CS5 around, and it'll still open on my OS10.13 iMac, but it's not happy. I can fire up my Mac Pro if need be.)

 

The computer thing is forward looking, but there really oughta be a way to preserve work done in obsolete apps.

I have run into the same "issue".

 

Is there an official that could shed some light on this if it is at all possible?

 

Holding the Alt-Key down on the keyboard before turning the knob on the midi-controller would also be a viable option.
