Why can't I use different programs on different computers?

Yesterday we bought two CC subscriptions for me and my colleague. We both also work from home sometimes so I replaced my CS6 software at home with the updated software for the programs we use (Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator and InDesign). For Acrobat, we stick to Acrobat Pro 9 because our Pitstop Pro license would be too expensive too upgrade for the new versions.

So when another non-prepress colleague today asked if it was possible to add the company letterhead on top of the digital invoices, I thought: why not install Acrobat XI on his computer since neither me or my colleague uses it anyway - neither at work or at home. To my surprise, Adobe does NOT allow this??? It seems CC ties the entire subscription to computers instead of separate software to computers because the minute I tried to activate the software, CC complained and activated "trial mode" on Acrobat XI saying I was already logged in at the maximum amount of computers.

This doesn't seem right to me - surely it's the amount of times a program gets used that counts and in my case, Acrobat XI doesn't get used at all so why aren't we allowed to use it on an extra PC? We pay for the program after all!!!!
