Hi,
I have a 10 minute edit with red footage and about 15 dynamic links that contain titles. I've chosen this route because the titles have 32bit glow effects that are very soft and I've not been able to successfully render with alpha and place in premiere cleanly (distortion/artifacts appear). I've been using the same project for months and this has been working fine, however something occurred in the last 24 hours that now causes instant crash when I'm exporting. The strange thing is the linked comps seem fine in the project - I've deleted the preview renders, unlinked them, relinked them, and then they render previews in the timeline just fine. The project also exports fine if I select sections without a DL in it. Only when the DL is inside in I/O points does it crash. I've tried just about everything I can think of (list below), including -creating a new test project, adding a single dynamic link comp (from the existing AE project as before) and exporting, which still crashes. This is driving me literally insane and I've just missed a major deadline. I worked around and brought the footage into AE, applied titles, and rendered out, but this is not easy as there are effects applied on the DL comps in premiere, and I've spent much time finessing the details of the project this way. Bottom line is the DL links were working for a long time, and something changed to make them not work, though I
-Export with previews, without previews, different formats
-Delete media cache in Premiere/AE
-Delete preview files
-Project manage only the required sequence into new project
Possible Leads:
- The only outlying event preceding the problem is that I did a test export from premiere where I upped the bit depth from 24 to 64. My memory is rough here but I believe the program may have crashed at this point.
- Potential issue with links being confused between different AE project files - there has been some updates of the project file due to crashes, and at one point an import of one AE project into another, then relinking from Premiere to the new one. I've tried to sort out by saving as a new AE project and cleaning things up, but my next step here will be making a new AE from scratch and then importing the comps from the old ones, then importing fresh to premiere. While writing this I did make a fresh AE project with a test comp, and it successfully worked on export - possibly the key.
