I'm trying to follow you but it's not easy. Please bear with me.
1 I don't know where LR preferences are but firstly when the merged file
came back from Photomatix I edited it in LR. Does that constitute 'external
editing'?
2 If I manage to find out 1 above then will the stacking with the 3
original RAW files be obvious?
3 Assuming I manage to do that then presumably I have to then locate it on
the HD to back it up somewhere else.
4 I am still mystified as to where the TIFF is now!!!!
